Where is the Observatory?

The maps below, courtesy of the Tiger Map Server Browser will help you find us if you want to visit. Each map after the first one is zoomed in 2X. Only the major streets are marked, and each one of these at least have Interstate exits. Siegen, Perkins, and Highland also extend to U.S. Highway 61. Those living in Baton Rouge may want to go directly to one of the zoomed maps to determine their own best route to the Observatory.

This map shows the entire parish of East Baton Rouge. The streets are not shown because at this resolution, they would only be a big grey blob. This map is mostly for visitors from out of state, or at least Baton Rouge. Once you figure out how to get this far, go to one of the next maps.

Streets are shown shown here for some reference, but only Highland Road itself is indicated. The Observatory is placed near the bottom of the maps from now on to show more streets. If you're coming from south of Baton Rouge, Interstate 10 or U.S. 61 (Airline Highway) to Perkins/Highland Road is your best route.

Once again, only the major routes are marked here. All of these at least have access to Interstate 10 and Highland Road.

This and/or the next map will help you pinpoint your destination. Amiss Street is right next to one side of BREC's Highland Road Park, with the Observatory in the part of the park on the other side of Highland Road. If you're travelling east, you pass Amiss and look for Highland Road Park on the right. If you're going west and you pass Amiss, you've gone too far! :-)

Can't miss with this one! Look for Highland Road Park on either the left if you're travelling west, on the right if you're travelling east. The Observatory is located in the back of the park.
